William McCandless joins Kortenhof McGlynn & Burns, LLC
St. Louis, Missouri, December 18, 2014 - The law firm of Kortenhof McGlynn & Burns, LLC is pleased to announce that William McCandless has joined the firm as an Of Counsel attorney, practicing in the area of product liability defense. Bill has more than 30 years of experience defending clients in civil litigation practices including product liability, medical malpractice, commercial disputes, construction site accidents, employment discrimination and personal injury matters. He is national counsel to a Fortune 250 corporation defending industrial product liability claim. He received his Bachelor of Science, Masters of Arts, and Juris Doctor from Wayne State University. He is licensed to practice in Michigan and Florida.
Mo McGlynn and Ben Shelledy won summary judgment in a Missouri action in which the plaintiff filed a civil lawsuit against his employer for a workplace injury. The injured employee claimed that the 2005 amendments to the Missouri Workers' Compensation Act allowed him to pursue a civil remedy where his employer denied injury causation in the workers' comp arena. Representing a large manufacturing company, defense counsel argued for the preservation of the Act's exclusivity provision, a position with which Circuit Court Judge Maura McShane agreed.
Mike Pagan received a defense verdict for a different automobile manufacturing client in a breach of warranty lawsuit tried to a jury in Wichita, Kansas.
Mike Pagan obtained a defense verdict on behalf of an automobile manufacturer in a Magnuson Moss Warranty Act case held before a binding arbitrator. Plaintiffs had requested a repurchase of the vehicle, or in the alternative, several thousands of dollars in diminished value and attorneys' fees.
We are pleased to announce that as of June 1,2012, Ben Shelledy will be licensed to practice law in the state of Kansas. Although his primary focus will be on Workers' Compensation, he will be coordinating additional areas of our insurance defense practice with Mike Pagan, who has been
practicing in the state of Kansas for almost 2 years.
Kenneth M. Lander received a defense verdict from a federal jury in the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Missouri in the case of Timothy Person, Sr. v. White Castle System, Inc.
Cheryl Callis tried two cases in October 2010 and received defendant's verdicts in both. The first was first party auto case and the second was a premises liability case.
Mo McGlynn won summary judgment on a large, highly contested construction negligence/property damage case pending in the Circuit Court for St. Charles County, MO.
Joe McGlynn got a defense verdict on one count of a breach of warranty claim tried to a jury in Iron County, MO, with a small adverse verdict on the second count. The judge entered a Judgment NOV, reversing the small adverse verdict and entering judgment in favor of Joe’s client, an automobile manufacturing company.

Mo McGlynn was honored by Missouri Lawyers Weekly with a Women's Justice Award for her work as a trial practitioner who demonstrates leadership, integrity, service, sacrifice and accomplishment in improving the quality of justice and exemplifying the highest ideals of the legal profession.
Successful defense of breach of warranty claim
Mike Pagan obtained a defense verdict in a Magnuson-Moss breach of warranty arbitration for Chrysler Group LLC. Plaintiffs alleged breach of express warranty based on their purchase and subsequent possession of a 2008 Chrysler Aspen. They requested over $16,000 in diminished value and attorneys' fees from the arbitrator.
Top 100 Irish lawyers
Joe McGlynn, Jr. was named to the second annual list of the Irish Legal 100 by the Irish Voice newspaper and Irish America magazine. In announcing the honor, St. Louis Business Journal notes that Joe founded the St. Patrick's Day Parade in St. Louis and is the Honorary Irish Consul for the city.
